West Ham in Crisis? Hammers Turn to Monaco Star Soungoutou Magassa After Chelsea Humiliation

West Ham United has had a dreadful start to their Premier League season, suffering defeats in their first two matches and landing at the bottom of the table. The team’s weak midfield and defence have been exposed, putting immense pressure on manager Graham Potter, following a 3-0 loss to Sunderland and a 5-1 defeat against Chelsea.

The club is now scrambling for new players before the transfer window closes. To address these issues, West Ham has reportedly agreed on a £17 million deal to sign Soungoutou Magassa, a 21-year-old defensive midfielder from AS Monaco.

According to transfer insider Santi Aouna, the France youth international, who made 21 appearances in Ligue 1 during the previous season, is expected to agree to a six-year contract.

Magassa is known for his strength and ability to intercept threats, is regarded as the solution to the midfield problems that have troubled the team since Edson Álvarez left. Magassa would be West Ham’s seventh new player this summer, if the transfer deal is completed.

Tomas Soucek and young player Freddie Potts in the latest defeat to Chelsea, the move emphasises the team’s pressing necessity for a rebuild, especially after Potter relied on James Ward-Prowse. Fans are now left to wonder if Magassa’s arrival will be enough to spark a comeback or if the club is headed for a full-blown crisis.
